  • Anxiety and hypervigilance

  • Putting yourself in dangerous situations

  • Boundary issues (speaking & enforcing)

The side effects of body violation

To the women who have experienced sexual or bodily violation at any age, first, I am profoundly sorry that we share this wound.

And yet, with all things in life, where there is a wound, there is treasure. The practice of alchemy, as I know it is one that occurs within the body. The practices I share with you are an invitation to uncover the treasure that has been hidden within you because of this great pain.

When your body has been violated, it changes your relationship with yourself. It changes the way you move through the world, the relationships you choose, the risks you take, and what you believe you deserve. But no matter how far away you feel from yourself, from your body, or from healthy and vibrant intimacy, you can come back.

You can find safety and home in your body.

May you be surrounded by the safety, love, support, care and healing that you need. You stand at the precipice of change. You are not alone. You will be supported in your healing journey in miraculous ways.

You may recognize some of these common “symptoms” of body violation trauma.

  • Frequent emotional collapse & overwhelm

  • Difficulty saying no or holding boundaries

  • Trouble trusting your instincts

  • Autoimmune disorders

  • Shame fusing with your identity

  • Believing that you are not worthy of care, safety, or support.

  • Feeling uncomfortable being seen

  • Difficulty staying present (in general, but especially during intimacy)

  • Feeling numb or disconnected from pleasure

  • Feeling like you’re floating outside of your body.

  • Isolation and social anxiety

Finding our way.

I believe we are living through the apocalypse. When we look to the Greek etymology of the word, apocalypse means the lifting of the veil. We are all collectively waking up to discover the horrors and lies hidden underneath the fabric of our society. The lies what live under our skin, and inside our minds.

The patriarchy was born from the fear of the sword: the hoarding of resources, the guarding of territory, the endless contest for status and survival. The wound you and I share is not ours alone. It is systemic. We have inherited the symptoms of a civilization caught in its greedy adolescence.

We are being asked to remember our identity underneath the colonization of our minds and bodies. We are remembering ways of being that celebrate life through relationship, embodiment, creativity, sensuality, and a connection to ourselves and nature (as if they were seperate in the first place.)

I know and you know, there is something you came here to do. Your soul remembers and shows you it in glimmers. Each week we will scrub off the lies of the bloated and exploitative horrors of a sick society. We clear away the illusions so you can hear the voice that was there before the world told you who to be.

Each week, you will inhabit yourself, your dream, your body, and your heart.

And from there, you will take your place.

Initially, we will work together one-on-one. We meet weekly and build a practice around ritual and inhabitation. Through heart strengthening joyful expression, strength, creativity, body boundary practices, and sensuality you will heal. We trust in nature and your body's intelligence as we go at the speed your soul needs.

Above all, we will develop a practice of heartiness. This healing goes hand in hand with movement because it is all a heart strengthening practice. The peace, forgiveness, safety, connection, and soul fulfillment you seek, all of that lives within your heart. I build a custom weekly practice for you based on your body's language.

I pull from my experience teaching a wide variety of movement practices from the years that I owned gyms that served thousands of women, my own healing journey, and the movement I teach to the high risk teen girls every morning. The journey will challenge you, it will hold you, it will be creative, tender, and, of course it will be fun.

Once you are ready, I will invite you to join an intimate group of 6 women or less for group training so you can continue your soul inhabitation journey with the support of others.

What this entails.

“The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door. If you have an old, old story, that is a door.”

— Clarissa Pinkola Estés

Meet Carrie.

I know this terrain because I have lived it.

Made in the Grand Canyon and given away at birth because the predominant religion in this state convinced my mother that she was unworthy of motherhood, I spent my childhood finding home in nature and in myself as I was placed with caregivers I never bonded with. This gave me an ability to recognize the borders between myself and the projections of others.

I experienced sexual abuse as a child and spent years living with its effects in both my mind and body. I have spent much of my adult life traveling the world, dissociating, creating, abandoning myself, and finding my way back into my body.

I have studied that return through movement, strength, yoga, dance, embodiment, creativity, and the body itself.

I owned and ran women-only gyms in my twenties, working with thousands of women. I ran them successfully until a reality show came knocking and left me heartbroken from the exploitation that mirrored the exploitation I experienced as a child.

Nowadays, I teach movement every morning to high-risk teenage girls, and I photograph women in nature as they reclaim their bodies and see themselves differently.

The photographs on this site are from my portfolio or are photos of me.

I am a teacher, movement practitioner, musician, artist, and lifelong student of the body. I create a variety of spaces for culture to flourish, whether that’s hosting music night, community gatherings and retreats at the earthship, or movement based alchemical healing experiences.
